    Foca excells both on and off the mat as he continues his wrestling career at Cornell University.

    Biography

    March was an incredible month for Foca.

    He won his first-ever New Jersey high school state wrestling championship along with his second straight NHSCA national title. At the start of the month Foca won the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association 182-pound state title with a 7-4 win over Joe Poznanski of Colonia. He was 43-1 this year, winning his second straight Beast of the East title.

    He then defended his 2018 NHSCA Junior national title (160 pounds) with an 11-2 major decision win over Trey Sizemore of Ohio in the 182 pound final. Foca, the No. 1 seed in his bracket, was named the Senior Nationals’ Outstanding Wrestler by recording three falls and two major decisions in the championship bracket.

    Foca, who will attend Cornell, finished his high school career at Bergen Catholic with a 148-18 record, winning a silver medal as a junior and a bronze medal as a sophomore. He was also named the Big North Wrestler of the Year.

    Foca took a greyshirt before enrolling at Cornell.

    Gabby capped her scholastic career by leading Walton High School to its fourth straight Georgia state volleyball championship.

    Biography

    Gabby capped her scholastic career by leading Walton to its fourth straight Georgia state championship. This past season, Walton finished 41-3 with a No. 5 national ranking by MaxPreps.  Gonzales had an outstanding senior season with 539 kills in 109 total sets, carrying a 51.5 attack percentage. She also finished with 237 digs, 27 blocks and 34 aces.

    Gonzales, who was named Gatorade’s Georgia Volleyball Player of the Year as a junior and senior, carries a 3.94 GPA. In addition to being named Georgia’s Class 7A Player of the Year and a 2018-19 Under Armour First Team All-American, she was also named an All-American by PrepVolleyball.com, FloVolleyball and MaxPreps.

    Gonzalez will attend Ohio State University in the fall.

    Abby Loveys may be one of New Jersey’s best all-time, all-around runners.

    Biography

    Loveys may be one of New Jersey’s best all-time all-around runners. This past year, the Princeton-bound runner broke a 36-year old state record in 3,200-meters with a time of 10-minutes, 10.24 seconds. She closed-out her scholastic career with a second place finish in New Jersey’s Meet of Champions in the 1,600, a title she won as a junior.

    In the Fall, Loveys won the Cross Country Meet of Champions with a time of 17 minutes, 54 seconds. She then finished 11th at the Foot Locker Cross Country national championships, earning All-American honors. In the classroom she owns a 4.22 grade point average.

    Biography

    Fahnbulleh closed-out his scholastic career by defending his 200 meter dash Class AA state title, plus he anchored the school’s 4 X 200 meter relay team that won its second straight state gold medal. The relay team broke its own state record with a winning time of 1 minute, 25.66 seconds. Fahnbulleh, who will attend the University of Florida on a scholarship, was named Mr. Track and Field by the sport’s coaches association.

    “The (Florida) coaches didn’t just only care about my athletic ability, they cared about me as a human. I see coaches at UF as the father figures I never had in my life. That’s why I chose Florida,” Fahnbulleh said. Fahnbulleh, who fled Liberia (Africa) with his family during a coup, said education is very important, “My mom says nobody can take away your education. Opportunities are there. Most people see them but don’t take them; I act on my opportunities.”

    As a freshman, Fahnbulleh competed in five events for the Gators and earned USTFCCCA Indoor All-America honors in the 200m. He was also named USTFCCA All-Academic.

    Wolfberg is the first female player to ever accomplish the feat of winning four straight Florida Class 4A Singles State Championships.

    Biography

    Wolfberg capped an incredible four-year run with her fourth straight Florida Class 4A singles state championship. Wolfberg is the first female player to ever accomplish the feat, which helps her pass Hall of Fame tennis player Chris Evret, who won three straight titles from 1970 through 1972 while she was at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

    Wolfberg never lost a high school singles match. Wolfberg is equally as good in the classroom. She holds a 4.0 GPA and received over 50 college scholarship offers. She will continue her career on a tennis scholarship at Oklahoma State University.

    Wolfberg finished her freshman year with a winning record in both singles and doubles for the Cowgirls. Off the court, she was an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

    Holmes closed-out his scholastic career by winning his second straight Colorado Class 5A No. 1 singles championship.

    Biography

    Holmes closed-out his scholastic career by winning his second straight Colorado Class 5A No. 1 singles championship. He beat Morgan Schilling of Regis Jesuit High School 7-5, 7-5. It was the second straight year that Holmes defeated Schilling in the state title match.

    Holmes’ defense of his title almost never got off the ground. He sustained a torn meniscus in his knee before the start of the season. After minor surgery and physical therapy he was able to return to the court.

    Holmes, who will play college tennis at Utah State, is an excellent student with a 4.0 GPA and is considered a 4-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net. He is a 3-time winner of the Chatfield Senior High School Athlete of the Year. Utah State University head tennis coach, James Wilson, said this about Holmes: “Christian is a high achiever with high character that will immediately make a positive contribution. His tennis game, athleticism and work ethic made a lasting impression, and I feel he has a lot of potential. I’m excited to work with him next fall.”

    Holmes began producing his freshman year at Utah State prior to the COVID-19 pandemic that canceled the season. He was the Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete Award recipient.

    His freshman season, Holmes posted a 5-15 record in Singles. He was an ITA Scholar-Athlete. He was named Academic All-Mountain West and the Mountain West Scholar-Athlete. Holmes was the USU Whitesides Scholar-Athlete in 2020, as well.

    Biography

    Berkoff ended her scholastic career by setting two more records at the Montana state meet in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle.

    Berkoff won 16 individual state titles during her career and never lost a race in her four years. She ranks 14th in the world in the 100 backstroke and she’s hoping to make the United States swim team for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

    Berkoff’s dad, David, won four overall Olympic medals. As a senior, Berkoff was named the swimmer of the meet, setting new state records in both of her individual events. In the 100 freestyle, she won in 49.90 seconds, which broke her own record of 50.01 seconds that she set last season. In the 100 backstroke, she won in 52.40 seconds, which also broke her own record set last year in 52.80 seconds. In December, Berkoff a set Speedo Junior Nationals meet record in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke.  She also won the 100 freestyle and finished second in the 200 individual medley.

    Berkoff made an immediate splash as a member of the Wolfpack. She recorded two ACC titles as a freshman.

    Foster’s scholastic career came to a close by winning four gold medals at the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I state championships.

    Biography

    Foster’s scholastic career came to a close by winning four gold medals at the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I state championships. Jake set state records in the preliminaries, notching Ohio’s best times in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke before capturing gold later in the day in both events. His third and fourth golds came in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays where he teamed-up with his younger brother Carson, who is a top-rated junior. Combined, the brothers won eight gold medals and shared the meet’s Outstanding Swimmer Award.

    Foster, who will attend the University of Texas on a scholarship, is a member of the USA Junior National team. Last summer, as part of the Mason Manta Rays swim team, he competed in the USA Swimming Phillips 66 Junior National Championships in Irvine, California, and earned the right to be a member of Team USA competing in the Junior Pan Paci­fic Games in Fiji.   There he brought home a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley. Foster is also a Scholastic All-American.

    Foster was the Big 12 Champ in the 400 IM and was a runner-up in the 200 IM.

    Mitchell has had an outstanding high school career that is closing-out with her team competing in their fourth straight Arkansas state championship game.

    Biography

    Mitchell has had an outstanding high school career that is closing-out with her team competing in their fourth straight Arkansas state championship game. Rose Bud won the state title game during her sophomore season.

    Mitchell, who has accepted a scholarship to play at the University of Notre Dame, will enter this year’s state championship game with a career batting average above .600, with 57 home runs and nearly 200 runs batted in. She was the MaxPreps Junior Player of the Year after blasting 24 home runs with 71 RBI and a .659 batting average. The switch-hitter also stole 33 bases, drew 36 walks, scored 82 runs and compiled a 1.658 slugging percentage.

    Mitchell saw action her first season at Notre Dame. During the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, she was the DH in four of the games and had a .364 batting average and a .909 slugging percentage.

    Biography

    Anderson capped off her high school career by winning a CIF North Coast Section Division I championship with six saves in a 2-0 win over San Ramon Valley in the title game. She didn’t allow a goal during the Cougars playoff run. Many consider Anderson to be the top goalkeeper in the world in her age bracket.

    She was the starting goalkeeper and captain for the Under-17 United States Women’s National Team and the No. 1 keeper in TopDrawerSoccer’s Class of 2019 recruiting class. At Carondelet, she was a first team all-leaguer performer as a sophomore, junior and senior. She was also a United Soccer Coaches All-American.

    Anderson made an immediate impact at Berkeley. She started in all 21 games as a true freshman. She was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, as well as the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year. TopDrawerSoccer bestowed her as the National Freshman of the Year. She was also named Second Team All American.

    Cox closed-out his scholastic career by leading St. Xavier High School to its second straight Kentucky state title.

    Biography

    Cox closed-out his scholastic career by leading St. Xavier High School to its second straight Kentucky state title. Cox served as the team’s captain, leading the Tigers with 24 goals. He was named to the Kentucky High School Soccer Coaches Association 1st Team All-State West squad and was a Preseason All-American on USA TODAY’s All-USA Team.

    Cox, who will attend the University of Kentucky on a soccer scholarship, scored 10 goals and had 12 assists his junior year. St. Xavier finished No. 6 in the 2018 USA TODAY Super 25 Boys’ Soccer Fall national rankings.

    Cox redshirted his freshman year and saw action in two games the following season, which was cut short due to Covid. He was named C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2019.

    Kuehn has excelled on the green while at the Asheville School and has continued that success to Wake Forest.

    Biography

    Kuehn won her third consecutive North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state championship last fall. Kuehn won the tournament by one stroke, posting a two-day score of 138 (67 — 71).

    Kuehn won the 2018 North Carolina Amateur Championship and is a three-time All-State honoree. She was honored by USA TODAY as a first-team All-USA member for the 2017-18 school year. Kuehn represented the Dominican Republic in at the 2018 World Amateur Team Championship in Ireland. Kuehn has accepted a scholarship to play golf at the University of Wake Forest, where her mom also played college golf.

    In her freshman season that was cut short due to Covid, Kuehn finished with the best stroke average on the team with a 71.23. She won her first collegiate title at the ANNIKA Championships. She was a WGCA All-American and named to Arnold Palmer Cup US Team.

    Schell had a successful scholastic career at Bartram Trail and is hoping for the same results at Ol Miss.

    Biography

    Schell closed-out his scholastic career by finishing runner-up at Florida’s 3A state championship. He carded one of the 20 lowest scores at the state championships in the last 55 years, finishing one shot behind two-time state champ Brett Roberts of St. Thomas Aquinas, who is only a junior. His 36-hole score at the state tournament was better than former FHSAA state champions Brooks Koepka (current U.S. Open champ), Len Mattice, Mark Calcavecchia and Gary Koch, all of whom went on to play in the PGA Tour. Schell finished third last summer in the Florida Junior Amateur Championship. He is a 3-time winner on the FSGA Junior Tour.

    In 2016 he placed Top-5 at both the St. Augustine Amateur and First Coast Amateur. The St. Augustine Record named Schell, who will play his college golf at the University of Mississippi, its 2018 St. Johns County Boys Golfer of the Year.

    Schell redshirted his first season at Ol Miss and the season was eventually canceled due to Covid. He was named First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.

    Biography

    Nix closed out his incredible scholastic career by leading Pinson Valley, coached by his dad, to its second straight Alabama Class 6A state championship.

    He finished as the only player in Alabama high school football history to ever top 12,000 yards in total offense, with more than 10,000 yards passing and over 2,000 rushing. The 5-star recruit, who is already enrolled at Auburn, had his hand in 161 career touchdowns, a new state record.

    Nix, a 3X all-state selection, recently played in the Under Armour All-America game where he completed 7 of 17 passes for 89 yards. He was Gatorade’s 2018 Alabama State Player of the Year and a week ago he was named Alabama’s Mr. Football. He finished runner-up for that award as a junior. In the classroom, Nix has a 4.14 grade point average.

    As a freshman at Auburn, Nix was named the SEC Freshman of the Year throwing for 2,542 yards and 16 touchdowns – both Auburn records as well. Off the field, he was named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. In his shortened sophomore season, he threw for 2,415 yards. He again was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

    Heading into the season, Max Field Hockey named Connors as one of the Top 50 field hockey players in the nation.

    Biography

    Connors, who will play field hockey at the University of California at Berkeley, closed-out an outstanding scholastic career by helping Scripps Ranch win the CIF-San Diego Section Open Division championship. She scored 43 goals with 18 assists this past season.

    At the end of the season, the CIF-San Diego Section honored her as its Field Hockey Player of the Year. Connors also competes in cross country, which takes place at the same time of the year as field hockey.

    Before playing in the field hockey section championship, earlier in the day Connors finished 9th in the section cross country finals. Heading into the season, Max Field Hockey named Connors as one of the Top 50 field hockey players in the nation. In the classroom, Megan carries a 4.23 GPA and scored a 29 on her ACT.

    Connors played in every game her freshman season. She scored her first collegiate goal in the season opener again Quinnipiac. Off the field, she was named to the  NFHCA National Academic Squad. She was also on the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

    Biography

    Bader is one of the most versatile runners in the State of Delaware. Bader won the Delaware Division I state cross country championship in the fall, which came several months after finishing fourth in the state in the 300 hurdles as a junior during the spring track season. Bader’s gold medal performance led Padua Academy to a state team cross country championship.

    Bader, who will take part in cross country and track and field at the University of Pennsylvania, captured the 2018 Joe O’Neill Invitational cross country championship. After finishing third at the Joe O’Neill Invitational as a junior, she dropped her time by 47-seconds to win the title in October 2018. She also finished seventh at the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional this past season. Bader’s outstanding senior season also led to her being named the state’s Runner of the Year. In the classroom, Bader carries a 4.03 grade point average.

    Bader competed in six events her freshman year in cross country, scoring in five of them. She competed in five events during the indoor track and field season in the 3000m or the mile. The outdoor season of 2020 was canceled due to Covid.

    Renfree, who will run on a scholarship at the University of Notre Dame, is an excellent student and will head to South Bend as a third generation pre-med student.

    Biography

    Renfree capped an outstanding scholastic career by winning the Tennessee Division I Large Class Cross Country championship. In the previous two state championship meets, Renfree finished second and fourth. After winning his first state title, Renfree headed to the Foot Locker National Championships in Southern California where he finished in second place. As a junior he finished fifth at the national championships.

    Renfree, who will run on a scholarship at the University of Notre Dame, is an excellent student and will head to South Bend as a third generation pre-med student. He’s also a top-notch runner on the school’s track and field team. Renfree is the state’s defending Division I Large Class champ in the 3200. In 2017, he also won gold as a junior in the 1600, plus he won a gold medal being part of the school’s 4X800 relay team.

    In addition to his running and classwork, Renfree also is a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. He also volunteered at the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

    His freshman year at Notre Dame was successful until Covid. He was an ACC Champion as a team member of the Distance Medley Relay.

    Biography

    Brunelle, who will attend Notre Dame University on a scholarship, closed-out her career 11th on the Virginia all-time scoring list with 2,292 points and 6th on the state’s all-time rebounding list with 1,267. Sam led William Monroe to the state’s Class 4A state semifinals this past season, finishing with a 24-3 record.

    Brunelle, who played in the McDonald’s All-American Game in March, led the United States to a gold medal in the 3X3 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She also led Team USA to gold medals in the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup and 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championships.

    Brunelle started in all 31 games as a freshman averaging 13.9 points, a conference high. She was named to the ACC All-Freshman team in 2020.

    Biography

    Mannion closed-out his high school career by leading Pinnacle to its second straight Arizona Class 6A title. The 6-3, 180-pound guard, who is considered the No. 1 point guard in the Class of 2019, will attend the University of Arizona in the fall on a basketball scholarship.

    This past season, Mannion averaged 30.4 points per game, 6.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.8 steals per contest. Mannion, who scored 30 points or more in 17 of his team’s 30 games, was named to the second team of USA TODAY’S All-USA Basketball squad. In addition, he was named a third team Naismith All-American. Mannion, who carries a 3.66 GPA in the classroom, is Gatorade’s two-time Arizona Player of the Year and also played in this year’s McDonald’s All-American Game.

    Mannion played one season as a Wildcat. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. He finished the year with 169 assists, landing him third overall on Arizona’s record list, and averaged 14 points a game.

    After the season, Mannion entered the 2020 NBA Draft where he was selected in the second round by the Golden State Warriors.

    Biography

    Witt, who is the son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Bobby Witt, was the second overall pick in the 2019 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Kansas City Royals. Witt made history as he and his father are the first father son duo to be picked in the first five.

    Considered a five-tool athlete, Witt led his school to its first-ever 5A state championship. Witt hit .496 with 15 homers and 55 RBI’s. He had 14 doubles and nine triples. As a junior, Witt hit .476 with ten home runs.

    Witt was one of only two high school players to be on USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award midseason watch list. The award is given to the country’s top amateur baseball player.
