Biography
Coach Johnson led Hoover to its third straight 7A title in March. This year’s squad finished 35-1, ranked No. 10 in the MaxPreps.com Top 25 national rankings.
“It’s the mission every year,” Johnson to the Hoover Sun after the championship game. “That’s the reason we put them through what we put them through. I want to give a lot of credit to my assistant coaches, too. They’re always watching film and we’re always going back and forth on the bench.”
Johnson returned as head coach of her alma mater in 2016. Since then, Hoover has won five of the last seven state championships in the state’s largest classification. In December, Coach Johnson picked-up her 300th career coaching victory. After the 2023 season, she currently holds a 321-57 career record.
In 2021, the NFHS named her Alabama’s Coach of the Year.
