Biography

Trinity Catholic’s (formerly St. Thomas Aquinas) Vince Drake is a legend in high school soccer, becoming the first coach in America to win 1,000 games as girls’ and boys’ soccer coach. Drake passed the 1,000 win plateau in 2011.

Drake has led the girls’ program to one state title and the boys’ soccer program to 10 Missouri state championships.

Since being honored, Drake is still at the helm at Trinity. His girls’ team have placed second and third in the 2015 and 2014 seasons, respectively.

Drake was inducted as the inaugural class into the Missouri State High School Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame in 2013. Additionally, Drake received the “Metro Legends Award” from the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame the same year. He was then inducted to the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame in 2014.

Drake retired after the 2015 season with over 1,000 career victories (boys’ and girls’ combined). His teams won a collective 41 district championships. His teams earned seven state runner-up finishes and twelve state titles. On July 25, 2015, Drake was honored by the Saint Louis FC during halftime of their match.
