Scarsdale was ranked No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches High School Fall National Rankings.

Monteagudo began his scholastic coaching career two years after graduating from Iona College in 2008. As the head coach at Iona Prep, he led the program to three consecutive division championships. He led the school to the 2009 New York Catholic High School Athletic Association state championship. His 2010 team won the CHSAA New York City championship.

In 2010, the NY Daily News named Monteagudo their Coach of the Year.

Monteagudo is the second New York coach to be named the NHSCA National Boys’ Soccer Coach of the Year. Gary Montalto of Arlington High School won the award for the 2006-07 sports season.
