Impact Statement

Berndt and his Wayzata team have dominated Track & Field in Minnesota.

Biography

Berndt and his program are going after their third Minnesota state team championship in June 2016.

In May, Berndt led his program to its fourth straight Minnesota True Team Championship. What a turn around from his first season as a coach where the team finished second to last in the conference, and then following year not qualifying anyone for state for the first time since 1972. After a refocus on the team aspect, nothing has stopped Wayzata and Coach Berndt.

Since being honored in 2016, Berndt and Wayzata continue their successful ways. The team won a state title in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, they were the State True Champs. In 2019, they finished 2nd overall.

Over the last 15 years, Berndt has coached a total of 17 event MN State Champions and 220 Minnesota All-State student-athletes.
