Biography

Tony Splendore has been the boys’ and girls’ tennis coach at Mt. Pleasant High School in western Pennsylvania for 39 years.

With well-over 600 victories, Splendore is one of the winningest boys’ tennis coaches in Pennsylvania. Splendore started the school’s tennis program in 1972 when it had no home tennis courts, meaning the school had to play every match on the road.

This past year, Splendore, who is retired from teaching, returned to the sidelines as the boys’ head basketball coach.

After being honored, Splendore left Mt. Pleasant and took the head coach position at Greensburg Central Catholic. He won his 700th career victory in the WPIAL consolation finals. Splendore continues to lead the Centurions on and off the court.
