Steele led his teams to 15 State Championships over the course of his storied career.
Biography
Robert Steele has had an incredible career at North Rowan that has seen him win 15 NCHSAA state championships, including a runner-up finish this past season.
From 1994 through 1998, North Rowan won five straight state championships. He’s a member of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Additionally, he was named as one of the 100 Coaches to Remember during the NCHSAA’s centennial in 2013.
in 2019 Steele was selected as part of the inaugural class of the North Carolina High School Track and Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame. He has also been inducted into the Livingstone College Sports Hall of Fame and the Salisbury-Rowan Sports Hall of Fame.
