Biography

Hasay’s star was the brightest in a year that included several outstanding senior runners. Last December, the 5-foot-4 Hasay won the Foot Locker Nationals race in 17:22 to become the fourth girl in race history to repeat as champion – she also won in 2005 – and the first four-time regional champion when she took the West Region crown.

Named the Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year by USA Today last spring and the Gatorade National Girls Runner of the Year this year, Hasay captured the Division 5 state title last fall in 17:18, the fastest time in any class, to cap an unbeaten senior season. The owner of nine national age-group records, Hasay finished 10th in the 1,500-meter finals in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials and her time of 4:14.5 was a record for a high school runner in the Trials. The two-time Junior Nationals champion has qualified for the 2009 IAAF World Championships. Also an outstanding student with a 4.53 grade-point average, she will attend the University of Oregon.

During her time at Oregon, Hasay won the Mile and the 3,000 meters titles at the NCAA Championship in 2011. She was an 18 time All American.

Since graduating, Hasay has went on to compete in marathons. Most recently, she finished third at the 2019 Boston Marathon, finishing with a time of 2:25:20.
