Breslin is the epitome of a student-athlete as she excels both on and off the soccer field.
Biography
Hope Breslin had an outstanding high school career, leading her school to three Class AA state championships along with a runner-up finish.
Breslin and her teammates just missed winning a fourth straight state title in November 2016, losing to Arlington 2-1 in double overtime. Massapequa did win four straight Long Island championships with Breslin on the team. Breslin, who was New York’s Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior, ended her career as Massapequa’s all-time leading scorer with 82 goals. She had 35 goals this past season, which is a school record. Breslin was the Class AA Player of the Year.
A National Honor Society student, Breslin will attend the University of Illinois on a scholarship. Breslin is the second New York athlete to win the NHSCA Girls’ Soccer Athlete of the Year Award.
Breslin continued her success at Illinois. As a freshman, she made 12 appearances. She started all 19 games as a sophomore. She scored the game winning goal twice against Maryland and Indiana. Her junior year she states in all 18 games and was tied with the most goals on the team with six.
Off the field, Breslin was named Academic All-Big Ten her sophomore and junior year.
