Biography
Dave Emmans was the leader of the Wayzata girls’ cross country team that dethroned seven-time defending national champions Fayetteville Manlius High School from New York.
Wayzata, which called itself “Team of Steel” while posing in Superman t-shirts last season, claimed the Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) National Championship in 2013. Wayzata defeated Fayetteville Manlius 108-120 to cap a perfect season at the NXN.
Emmans, who has led Wayzata to back-to-back Minnesota 2A state championships, has been the program’s head coach for 22 years.
In 2018 Emmans was inducted into the Minnesota High School Cross Country Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame.
