Biography
Witt, who is the son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Bobby Witt, was the second overall pick in the 2019 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Kansas City Royals. Witt made history as he and his father are the first father son duo to be picked in the first five.
Considered a five-tool athlete, Witt led his school to its first-ever 5A state championship. Witt hit .496 with 15 homers and 55 RBI’s. He had 14 doubles and nine triples. As a junior, Witt hit .476 with ten home runs.
Witt was one of only two high school players to be on USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award midseason watch list. The award is given to the country’s top amateur baseball player.
Since being honored, Witt starting shortstop for the Kansas City Royals. As of September of 2024, he has played in 455 games and has a batting average of .287 and slugging percentage of .556. In 2024, Witt was selected to the All Star Game. He also made it to the final round of the Homerun Derby.
