Biography
Smith, the long-time head coach at Saline High School finishes his career with the NHSCA National Coach of the Year accolades.
Smith retired at the end of the 2015 season, has led the team since 1977. He led the Lady Hornets to their 20th straight conference title this past season and its 14th straight regional championship. Saline and Smith won Michigan’s Division I state championship 2009.
Smith is a member of the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame as well as the Foundation for Saline Area Schools Hall of Fame.
Community Service
In 2011, the Coach Smith Cross Country Scholarship was established to honor athletes who personify what Coach Smith holds dear: academic and athletic success, teamwork and commitment. More information can be found above.
